Background Characters and Species

There are so many beautiful types of fish to choose from to fill the "streets" of Orca with color. Here I've highlighted some that appear in the pages. Click the thin thumbnail to view a bigger pic.

This polkadotted fellow selling sweets is a Panther Grouper.

The herald waving the flag is a Bannerfish, also known as a Pennant Butterflyfish.

These two are a direct nod to Finding Nemo. The girl is a Pacific Blue Tang, also known as a Royal Tang, just like Dory. The boy is a Moorish Idol, just like Gill. (Since the final inks of them were going to get cut off on the edge of the page, I colored them up just for fun.)

And what better way to round it out than to stick a clownfish in there too.

This is a school of Bannerfish.

These are Pacific Whitesided Dolphins. It was really hard to get their markings right but I think it was worth it. They have a lot of different grays on them, white patches, and cool stripes.
